CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The No. 12 Virginia women’s soccer team (16-4) continues play in the NCAA Tournament on Friday (Nov. 16) when the Cavaliers face Texas Tech (14-5-2) in second-round action at the Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field at Baylor. Kick is set for 4 p.m. ET.

• UVA is the three seed in the region and is ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches poll

MCCOOL’S HOT STREAK HELPS SPARK CAVALIERS  DOWN THE STRETCH 
• Junior forward Meghan McCool hit a hot streak that helped spark a five-match win streak (9/30-10/18)
• She turned in her first multiple-goal game with two goals and the game winner vs. Wake Forest
• She also scored in the win at Louisville, over Pittsburgh, NC State and Louisville in the ACC quarters
• McCool hit the game-winning goal in five of the last 10 matches (Wake, Louisville x2, Pitt, NC State)
 
SPAANSTRA ON A TEAR FOR CAVALIER OFFENSE IN SEASON’S SECOND HALF
• Freshman Alexa Spaanstra has been on a tear for the Hoos down the stretch  this season
• She has scored in six of the last 10 matches, including game-winners vs. Syracuse and Monmouth
• In addition to scoring, she has assists in four of the last 10 matches (Wake, Louisville x2, Notre Dame)
• Spaanstra has recorded at least one point in seven of the last 10 matches played down the stretch
 
FRESHMAN CLASS HAS HELPED DELIVERE SUCCESS FOR CAVALIERS IN 2018
• The highly-ranked recruiting class (4th ranked) has delivered in its first year for the Cavaliers
• Alexa Spaanstra and Rebecca Jarrett are first and third on the team with 9 and 6 goals, respectively
• Spaanstra is the team leader in points (24), while Jarrett is third in points with 14 to date
• Ashlynn Serepca has added a goal and two assists in her 524 minutes and played in all 20 matches
• Claire Constant has seen 765 minutes in 19 matches and helped a defense post eight shutouts
• Michaela Moran has two victories, filling in for Ivory in the season opener while she was away for U20
