Virginia Announces Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Schedule
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Director of track and field and cross country Bryan Fetzer released the track and field schedule for the 2018-19 season on Tuesday (Nov. 27). The Cavaliers will host three regular-season meets in the month of April in addition to the ACC Outdoor Championships in May.
The Cavaliers start the indoor season at the Nittany Lion Challenge (Jan. 12) in State College, Pa., before traveling to the Keydet Invitational (Jan. 18-19) in Lexington, Va., and the Columbia Challenge (Jan. 25-26) in New York, N.Y.
After opening the month of February at the Liberty Flames Invite (Feb. 2), Virginia will send a split squad to the Tiger Paw Invite (Clemson, S.C.) and the Iowa State Classic (Ames, Iowa) on Feb. 8-9 and the JDL DMR Invitational (Winston Salem, N.C.) and the Alex Wilson Invitational (Notre Dame, Ind.) on Feb. 16.
Virginia will close the indoor season with the ACC Indoor Championships (Feb. 21-23) in Blacksburg, Va., before heading to the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 8-9) in Birmingham Ala.
Virginia opens outdoor competition on the road, traveling to the Williamsburg, Va., to compete against William & Mary and George Mason (March 16) in a tri-meet. The distance runners will travel to the Raleigh Relays (March 29), while the remaining squad heads to the Fred Hardy Invitational (March 29-30) in Richmond, Va.
The Cavaliers will return home for the remainder of the regular season, hosting a quad meet with Maryland, Pitt and the West Virginia women’s team (April 6). The Virginia Challenge is scheduled for April 19-20, while the Virginia Grand Prix is scheduled for April 26-27.
Virginia will serve as conference host for the ACC Outdoor Championships (May 9-11), before sending athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds (May 23-25) in Jacksonville, Fla., and the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 5-8) in Austin, Texas.
