CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The Virginia wrestling team will head out on the road this weekend, sending 10 wrestlers to compete at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Wrestling at the two-day event begins at noon ET on both Friday and Saturday. The field consists of wrestlers from 42 NCAA Division I teams across the nation.

Coverage of the event will be provided by FloWrestling with a subscription based live stream provided on a mat-by-mat basis. Live results will also be provided by FloWrestling. Ten total wrestlers will be representing the Cavaliers at the weekend event – one at each weight class. Two wrestlers are among those pre-seeded for the event. Sophomore Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.)  is seeded fourth at 125 pounds, while Cam Coy (Jeannette, Pa.) is 11th at 165 pounds.

CAVALIERS IN THE RANKINGS
Virginia has a pair of wrestlers in the latest edition of the national rankings as released by InterMat Wrestling. Hayes is ranked sixth nationally at 125 pounds, while Coy is ranked No. 18 in the most recent rankings.
 
LAST TIME OUT AT THE CLIFF KEEN INVITATIONAL
Two wrestlers finished as place winners In last year’s Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational with Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) taking a third-place finish and Hayes taking a seventh-place finish. Hayes went 6-2 at the event, while Mueller went 6-1 on the way to the semifinals. In all, four wrestlers made it to day two of the competition with Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.) and Will Schany (Blair, Neb.) both advancing past the first day of action.

UP NEXT FOR VIRGINIA
Virginia will return home to host a pair of duals next weekend, facing off against Central Michigan and Princeton at Memorial Gym. The Cavaliers will host Central Michigan on Friday night before hosting Princeton on Saturday afternoon.
