Virginia Duals Bracket | Live Stream ($)/Results

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The Virginia wrestling team (7-5) will take the mat for the first time in 2019 this weekend, traveling to compete in the Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. when the Cavaliers take on No. 20 Lock Haven (2-0).

VIRGINIA DUALS FORMAT
The tournament, which features eight teams divided into two four-team brackets, will see the Cavaliers face the fourth-seeded Bald Eagles of Lock Haven at 9 a.m. The winner will advance to face the winner of the bracket’s other matchup between top-seeded Arizona State and Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The losers of the first-round matchup on Friday will wrestle each other on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. Further matchups will be determined for Saturday as teams progress throughout the two-day tournament. 

THE VIRGINIA DUALS FIELD
The eight-team field at the Virginia Duals features four seeded teams that include top-seeded Arizona State (ranked No. 16), second-seeded Virginia Tech (ranked No. 13), third-seeded Old Dominion and fourth-seeded Lock Haven (ranked No. 20). The four unseeded teams consist of Chattanooga, Kent State, Oklahoma and Virginia.

VIRGINIA WRESTLERS IN THE INTERMAT RANKINGS
The Cavaliers enter the duals receiving votes in the latest coaches poll and feature three wrestlers ranked in the latest InterMat rankings. Junior Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) leads the way as the fifth-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds, while sophomore Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.) is the seventh-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds. Junior Sam Krivus rounds out the individuals in the InterMat rankings as the 16th-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds.

MUELLER NAMED ACC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
Junior Jack Mueller was named the ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday when the league office announced the weekly award winners. Mueller, who came off a redshirt to return to the lineup at No. 6 Missouri (Dec. 20), has posted a 5-0 record since his return with four falls and a major decision.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia will return to action next weekend with a pair of duals, one on the road at VMI and one at home against Ohio. The Cavaliers will wrestle at VMI in a 7:30 p.m. dual on Friday (Jan. 18) before hosting Ohio at 1 p.m.
