No. 25 Virginia Wrestles At No. 17 North Carolina Saturday
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The No. 25 Virginia wrestling team (11-6, 0-0 ACC) hits the road to open conference competition this weekend, traveling to face No. 17 North Carolina (7-5, 0-0 ACC) in a 6:30 p.m. dual on Saturday (Jan. 26) at Carmichael Arena.

The initial NCAA coaches rankings were released on Thursday and seven members of the Virginia squad were ranked in the first listing. The Cavaliers were represented in the rankings by Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas), Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.), Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.), Jake Keating (Naperville, Ill.), Cam Coy (Jeannette, Pa.), Will Schany (Blair, Neb.) and Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.).

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia is coming off a 29-9 win over Ohio in the last outing as Virginia won seven weight classes against the Bobcats. The Cavaliers were paced by bonus-point wins from Aiello, Hayes, Mueller and Robert Patrick (Ligonier, Pa.). Aiello and Mueller picked up major decisions, Patrick won by pinfall. Hayes added six points with a forfeit by the Bobcats.
THE SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA
Virginia and North Carolina will face each other for the 78thtime when the teams face off on Saturday. Currently, the Tar Heels hold a 45-32 lead in the all-time series between the teams. Virginia has won seven of the last 10 duals, but North Carolina has had the edge recently with two wins in the last three meetings. Virginia won the last meeting in North Carolina, taking the dual in the 2016-17 season.
