CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine), a senior on the Virginia women’s tennis team, has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday with the release of its weekly awards.

Kelley nabbed Co-Player of the Week honors alongside Alexa Graham of North Carolina.

The Cavalier senior helped Virginia to a 4-3 win on the road at No. 10 Syracuse last week, marking the first win over a top 10 team by the Cavaliers since the 2015-16 season. The No. 32 ranked player nationally in singles, Kelley clinched the win with a 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory over No. 43 Gabriela Knutson at the top of the lineup.

Trailing 5-2 in the opening set, Kelley battled back to claim it and again rallied in the second set to fight off multiple set points to force a tiebreak with Knutson. She then cruised through the tiebreak to claim the straight-set victory and the win over the Orange.

Kelley also helped with a big win in doubles action, teaming up with Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas) for only the second time on the season. She and Bleser won their doubles match 6-1 on court three to help Virginia clinch the important doubles point.

The Cavaliers, who are off this week, return to action with a doubleheader on Saturday, February 16. Virginia will host ACC opponent Boston College and non-conference foe George Mason in a doubleheader.
