Las Vegas, NV – With the second round of the Rebel Beach Invitational suspended due to darkness Monday night, the No. 17 Virginia women’s golf team was in fourth place in the 16-team field. The Cavaliers shot 8-over 296 during the opening round in the morning at Spanish Trail Country Club and stood at 19-over when play was halted.
 
When play was suspended, Arizona topped the leaderboard at 5-over while UNLV was second at 9-over and San Jose State was third at 13-over.
 
UVA sophomore Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) was leading the team while tied for third at 1-under par. She shot 3-over 75 during her opening round and was at 4-under through 17 holes of her second round.
 
Senior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) was tied for 20th at 6-over and junior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was tied for 32nd at 9-over. Senior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) was in 35th place at 10-over and freshman Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.), who is making her collegiate debut, was 40th at 11-over.
 
Following the conclusion of the second round the teams will immediately begin the final round. Play is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. PT.
