CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams qualified three field athletes for the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships March 8-9 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

Redshirt senior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.), junior Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) and junior Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia) will represent the Cavaliers at the national competition.

Guy qualified in the pole vault after recording the nation’s ninth-best jump. She set a UVA record in the event at three consecutive competitions this season before jumping 4.38m (14-4.5) at the Tiger Paw Invite (Feb. 8). The indoor appearance will be the first for Guy.

Scott’s triple jump mark of 16.90m (55-5.5) ranks second in the NCAA this season, and set an ACC and UVA record. He recorded his second ACC title in the event last week, reaching 16.37m (53-8.5) on his first attempt. He passed on his final three jumps at the conference championships. Scott qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships for his third consecutive year.

Foster tied the school record in the high jump at the Liberty Flames Invite, clearing 2.21m (7-3). The height ranks 15th in the NCAA. The junior competed at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships for Manhattan College, earning second-team honors with a 10th-place finish.
