CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will open the outdoor season on Saturday (March 16) at the W&M Triangular at William & Mary’s Zable Stadium.

UVA Moves Outdoors
• The Cavaliers will open up the outdoor season on Saturday against William & Mary and George Mason at the W&M Triangular.
• The meet is one of six regular season competitions for Virginia and one of three outdoor meets on the road. 
• The team will host three competitions in April to conclude the regular season, before closing the year as the host for the ACC Championships in May.
 
Hoo’s Leaping Into History
• Junior Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) led the Cavaliers during the indoor campaign, capturing the NCAA title in the triple jump. His mark of 16.89m (55’5″) set a Birmingham CrossPlex facility record. He was the only competitor to reach 55 feet, clearing the mark twice in the series.
• Scott is the first ACC male competitor to win an indoor national title in the triple jump and first Cavalier to record an indoor national title since 2016.
• In addition to Scott, redshirt senior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) and junior Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia) inked their names into UVA’s history. 
• Guy captured the program’s first female All-America honor in the pole vault with her fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She set a school record in the event, clearing 4.41m (14’5.5″) with her first attempt at the height.
• Foster is the first male Cavalier All-American in the indoor high jump. He finished 11th at the national meet with a height of 2.20m (7’2.5″), earning second-team All-America honors.
 
Last Year
• Virginia returns six student-athletes that earned All-America honors during the 2018 outdoor season.
• Redshirt senior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Guy captured first-team All-America honors as Efekoro placed sixth in the shot put and Guy tied for fourth in the pole vault.
• Guy recorded the program’s first female All-American honor in the pole vault.
• Scott, senior Hilmar Jonsson (Reykjavik, Iceland), senior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) and junior Andrenette Knight (Morant Bay, Jamaica) earned second-team All-America honors.
