Ivory Opens Competition With U23 WNT At Thorns Invitational
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Laurel Ivory (Surfside, Fla.), a sophomore goalkeeper on the Virginia women’s soccer team, is one of 24 players called up for competition with the U23 Women’s National Team at the 2019 Thorns Spring Invitational.
It is the third consecutive year for the Us U23 WNT to compete in the event. The four-team event features the USA and three teams from the National Women’s Soccer League in their preseason training.
The Thorns Invitational runs March 24-30 and will be played at the University of Portland’s Merlo Field. The US team will face the Seattle Reign at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday (March 24) before facing the Portland Thorns at 10:30 p.m. ET next Wednesday (March 27). Play for the USA will conclude on Saturday, March 30, against the Chicago Red Stars at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Ivory is one of two goalkeepers called up to the squad and one of eight ACC players on the 24-player roster.
