CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in a pair of competitions this weekend as the Cavaliers compete at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on Friday (March 29) in Raleigh, N.C., and the Fred Hardy Invitational at the Robins Stadium on Friday and Saturday (March 29-30) in Richmond, Va.

The Raleigh Relays will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, through the watch ESPN App, while the Fred Hardy Invitational will be streamed on SpiderTV/Atlantic 10 Digital Network and is available with a subscription. In the Rankings
• After opening the outdoor season on March 16, five Cavaliers hold top-20 national marks in events.
• Three Virginia distance runners rank in the top 20 nationally as sophomore Hannah Moran (Salem, Va.), freshman Helena Lindsay (Yokohama, Japan) and sophomore Kiera Bothwell (Springfield, Va.) rank 14th, 17th and 18th, respectively, in the women’s 5000m run.
• Redshirt senior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) holds the 10th-best shot put mark in the NCAA, while senior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) ranks 15th in the triple jump.
• Additionally, both Cavalier teams enter the outdoor season ranked 29th in the USTFCCCA preseason poll.
Raleigh Relays
• The Cavaliers will compete against five ranked teams on the women’s side, facing No. 10 Florida, No. 15 Georgia, No. 18 Virginia Tech, No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 25 Georgia Tech.
• On the men’s side, Virginia will face No. 4 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 11 Florida State and No. 12 Mississippi State.
• Virginia will have 11 runners compete at the Raleigh Relays, as six UVA runners will race in the men’s 5000m, three will race in the men’s 10000m, one will race in the women’s 10000m and one will race in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.
Fred Hardy Invitational
• The two-day meet in Richmond, Virginia, will feature 30 Cavaliers.
• UVA will send 13 members from its men’s team and 17 competitors from its women’s team to the competition.
Last Time Out
• The Cavaliers opened the 2019 outdoor campaign on a strong note, competing against William & Mary and George Mason at the W&M Triangular.
• In his first meet in 2019, Efekoro topped the shot put (18.58m; 60’11.5″) and discus (51.49m; 168’11”) competitions at the W&M Triangular. The redshirt senior threw a career-best discus throw at the meet, the 22nd best mark in the East Region this season, while his shot put performance ranks fourth in the region.
• Junior Anna Jefferson (Warren, Mich.) swept the sprints, winning the 100m (11.88) and 200m (24.69) dash .
• Additionally, freshman Trey Causey (Winchester, Va.) opened the outdoor season by clearing the 10th-best height in UVA history in the high jump (2.05m; 6’8.75″).
