CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas) and Victor Marcelli (Massillon, Ohio), two members of the Virginia wrestling program placed at the 2019 UWW Junior Freestyle and Senior World Team Trials Challenge over the weekend at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. 

Mueller, who is a rising senior for the Cavaliers, finished fourth at 57kg in the Senior World Team Trials, while redshirt freshman Marcelli claimed the 86kg bracket in the UWW Junior Men’s Freestyle competition.
 
Marcelli, who was seeded fourth, posted wins over fifth-seeded Peter Acciardi, top-seeded Zachary Braunagel and sixth-seeded Jack Jessen on the way to the first-place finish. 
 
Mueller, who was seeded seventh at 57kg, defeated second-seeded Zane Richards in the opening round before dropping a tight match with third-seeded Darian Cruz in the semifinals. He then defeated fifth-seeded Zach Sanders in the consolation bracket before dropping the third-place match with Joshua Rodriguez.  

Justin McCoy (New Paris, Pa.) also competed in the Junior Men’s Freestyle competition, wrestling at 70kg. He went 1-2 on the weekend with his win coming over fifth-seeded Jaden Van Maanen in the consolation bracket.
