CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia runner Halle Hazzard (Commack, N.Y.) set a school record and recorded a bronze medal at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) U23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico, on Friday (July 5), representing Grenada at the three-day meet.
 
After setting a UVA record during the prelims, Hazzard topped her time in the finals of 100m dash running a wind-assisted time of 11.20. The time placed her third overall at the NACAC U23 Championships.
 
During the prelims, Hazzard surpassed her prior UVA record of 11.34 in the event, sprinting to the finish line a time of 11.29 to advance to the finals. The time was the second fastest of the morning and placed her second in her heat to automatically advance to the finals.
