CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  Redshirt senior Ari Klau (West Hartford, Conn.) was named the men’s ACC Co-Performer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday (Oct. 2).

Klau led the Cavaliers, ranked No. 22 at the time, to a first-place finish at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on September 27. He paced the Virginia pack, running a time of 24:14.2 for fourth place, as all five scoring Cavalier runners finished within six-and-a-half seconds of each other.

Klau moved into sixth place at the 5k mark, running a time of 15:16. He would fight his way into fourth place 2,000m later, turning in a 7k time of 21:26. Klau concluded the race with a 4:52 pace as he finished the last 1,000m in 2:48.

The Cavaliers scored 35 points during the competition, recording their second-best score in meet history. Virginia scored 30 points in 2009 at the inaugural Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.

The conference honor is the first for Klau and the second for the Cavaliers this season. Junior Rohann Asfaw (Rockville, Md.) was named the ACC Performer of the Week for his performance at the Cavalier Classic.

Klau and the men’s cross country team will return to action on October 18 as the team travels to Madison, Wisc., for the Nuttycombe Invitational.
