CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 1 Virginia women’s soccer team (9-0-2, 1-0-2 ACC) kicks off a stretch of three straight road matches on Friday (Oct. 4) when the Cavaliers take on Miami (3-4-2, 0-2-1 ACC) in an 8 p.m. match at Cobb Stadium.

The match will be streamed on ACCNX which streams live on the ESPN app. ACCNX is available through participating TV providers that carry ACC Network. • Virginia remained at the top of the United Soccer Coaches poll for the third straight week
• The Hoos sit atop the coaches poll at the same time as the UVA men’s team for the first time in history
• UVA boasts two of the top goal scorers in the ACC in Diana Ordonez (1st – 10) and Meghan McCool 
  (T3rd – 8) heading into the match with Miami. They are 5th and 25th nationally in goals, respectively
• Despite two powerhouse scorers, the Hoos have 10 different goal scorers this season and 12 different 
   players have tallied an assist in one of the nation’s top offenses

• The Cavaliers are coming off the team’s seventh shutout of the season with the draw against Duke
• UVA enters the weekend ranked top 5 nationally in total goals (2nd – 38), points (3rd – 103), scoring  
   offense (3rd – 3.45 gpg) and points per game (3rd – 9.36) 
• Laurel Ivory was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting 
   the shutouts over No. 16 Virginia Tech and No. 10 Duke this past week
• UVA has faced five top 25 teams this season with a 4-0-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents

A LOOK AT THE MIAMI HURRICANES
• The Canes enter the matchup with a record of 3-4-2 and 0-2-1 in ACC play
• Miami is coming off a 3-3 draw with Pittsburgh last weekend
• The Hurricanes have scored 17 goals and allowed 16 goals this season
• Six players have scored two goals each with 11 total goal scorers for UM
• Tia Dupont leads the Hurricanes with nine points (2 goals, 5 assists)
• Tyler Speaks has played the bulk of the time in goal with 27 saves and 10 
  goals allowed. She is 3-3-2 on the season with a solo shutout.
 
THE SERIES WITH THE HURRICANES
• Virginia leads the all-time series with the Miami Hurricanes 11-2-1
• UVA won the first meeting at home 4-0 in the 2004 season
• The Hoos have faced Miami on the road five times with a 3-2 record
• UVA lost 1-0 in 2006 and 2-1 in 2016 at Miami for the only two losses
• Virginia has outscored Miami 28-5 over the course of the 14 meetings
 
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST MIAMI
• Virginia last faced the Hurricanes in 2017, hosting Miami at Klöckner Stadium at the end of September
• Taryn Torres hit the game-winning goal with a header in the 29th minute off a Megan Reid cross
• Laurel Ivory picked up the shutout as the Hoos held Miami to only two second-half shots in the contest
• The Hoos peppered the Miami defense with 23 shots, 10 on fame, as keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce made nine saves
 
LAST TIME FACING THE HURRICANES ON THE ROAD
• Virginia dropped its last match at Miami in a 2-1 decision during the 2016 season played at Cobb Stadium
• The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead at halftime with a goal in the 21st minute and a 42nd minute penalty kick
• The Cavaliers got on the board in the 86th minute when Alexis Shaffer found Zoe Morse in the box for a header
• Virginia had a 14-to-6 advantage in shots with seven shots on goal, while three of Miami’s shots were on frame
