Six Virginia Wrestlers Place At Mountaineer Open
BOONE, N.C. – Six redshirt members of the Virginia wrestling program earned podium finishes at the Mountaineer Open at Appalachian State over the weekend.
Drew Peck (Chambersburg, Pa.) and Justin Phillips (Lynchburg, Va.) took first-place finishes at 184 and 165 pounds, respectively. Ethan Weatherspoon (Jackson, Mich.) took second at 197 pounds. Nick Coy (Jeannette, Pa.), Patrick Evans (New Orleans, La.) and Jack Walsh (Atlanta, Ga.) turned in third-place finishes. Coy wrestled at 141 pounds, while Evans competed at 157 pounds and Walsh wrestled at 174 pounds.
In all, eight wrestlers competed at the event.
As a team, Virginia will return to action on Nov. 24 with members competing at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia.
