UVA Wins Seven Races at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Virginia rowing team won seven of 10 races to open the 2019 season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational Saturday (March 16) on Melton Hill Lake.
 
The Cavaliers won all five of their races against Minnesota and Miami in the morning session. UVA posted wins in the Varsity Eight (5:43.060), Varsity Four (6:28.430), Third Varsity Eight (6:04.500), Second Varsity Eight (5:52.689) and Second Varsity Four (6:33.780).
 
In afternoon racing, Virginia won two of its five races against crews from Yale and Alabama. The Cavaliers registered wins in the Second Varsity Eight (5:41.899) and Third Varsity Eight (5:55.414), respectively. UVA placed second in the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four behind Yale and finished third in the Second Varsity Four.
