CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior Rohann Asfaw (Rockville, Md.) and freshman Wes Porter (Kansas City, Mo.) earned their second weekly honor from the ACC, the conference office announced on Wednesday (Oct. 14). Asfaw was named the ACC Runner of the Week, while Porter was named the Freshman Runner of the Week.

Asfaw captured the top individual time for the second consecutive meet, winning the Wolfpack Invite with a time of 23:32.5. He improved his career-best run from the Virginia Invite by 30 seconds, holding off NC State’s JP Flavin who completed the course in 23:35.0. Asfaw’s performance also earned him recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the senior was named the National Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Porter recorded the top time by a freshman at the Wolfpack Invite, completing the 8k course in a time of 24:01.4 for fifth-place overall. He was the second Cavalier to cross the finish line at the meet as he helped UVA to its second first-place finish of the season. Porter also improved his time from the season opener, dropping 14 seconds off his run from the Virginia Invite.

Virginia will return to action on Friday (Oct. 16) as the Cavaliers close the regular season at home with the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville.
