Virginia Slated For ITA Kickoff Regional At Ohio State
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The virtual draft for the 2021 ITA Kickoff Weekend was held on Monday (Dec. 7) and the Virginia women’s tennis team is one of four teams in the Ohio State regional for the event that will be played the weekend of Jan. 23-24.
In addition to host Ohio State and Virginia, the other two teams slated to compete in the regional are Tennessee and Washington. As the two seed in the region, the Cavaliers are paired with the third-seeded Lady Vols for their opening match of the weekend. The winner of that match will face the winner of the other match between the region’s top seed, Ohio State, and fourth-seeded Washington on Sunday.
The winning team from each of the seven regions will advance to play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with the host team for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships receiving an automatic berth to take the eighth slot in the event. Oklahoma State is serving as the host of the eight-team event Feb. 5-8.
