Keating Named ACC Wrestler Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Redshirt junior Jake Keating (Naperville, Ill.) has been named the ACC Wrestler of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday (Jan. 19).

Keating defeated No. 10 Thomas Bullard of NC State in the Cavaliers’ dual with the fourth-ranked Wolfpack over the weekend to earn the honor. The redshirt junior was competing in his first ACC dual since the 2018-19 season after taking a redshirt season during the 2019-20 campaign.

After then 19th-ranked Keating notched the first takedown of the bout in the first period, a pair of escapes by Bullard had things square in the second period. Keating then got his second takedown and was able to fend off the 10th-ranked wrestler the rest of the way to grab the 4-3 victory.

Keating and the Cavaliers will return to action this weekend when they travel to face Virginia Tech in a 5 p.m. dual on Friday (Jan. 22).
