CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s tennis team swept the Atlantic Coast Conference weekly tennis honors with freshman Jeffrey von der Schulenburg (Zurich, Switzerland) being named the ACC Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week and junior Ryan Goetz (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and freshman Chris Rodesch (Angelsberg, Luxembourg) being named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week as announced Tuesday (January 26) by the conference.

Von der Schulenburg began his collegiate career with three straight-set victories in singles, including picking up a pair of wins at ITA Kickoff Weekend matches in Columbus. On Saturday, von der Schulenburg downed No. 80 James Trotter 6-4, 7-5 on court three helping UVA upset No. 3 Ohio State and earn a spot in next month’s ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

Goetz and Rodesch clinched both doubles points in the ITA Kickoff Weekend matches, including giving UVA the 1-0 lead over No. 3 Ohio State on the Buckeyes home court with a 6-4 win against the No. 37-ranked duo of Justin Trotter and Jason Boulais.

These are the first conference weekly honors for all three of the players.
