CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Former Virginia men’s soccer standout and Orlando City SC forward Daryl Dike made his first international appearance for the U.S. Men’s National Team on Sunday evening (Jan. 31) in a 7-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago. He is the first Cavalier to appear in a USMNT international match since 2016.

Dike came on as a reserve in the 65th minute and attempted two shots. He was one of six American debutants in the match that took place in Dike’s home MLS stadium in Orlando. Not long after the match concluded it was announced that Dike would go on loan to Barnsley FC in England

Dike is the 23rd former Cavalier to earn a cap with the USMNT and the first since Tony Tchani made an appearance with the squad in 2016.

As a two-year member of the Cavalier program, Dike appeared in 36 games, scored 15 goals and assisted on nine others. He had a breakout season in 2019 and helped Virginia reach the NCAA National Championship game. He earned All-America honors from three national publications and was the NCAA College Cup’s Most Outstanding Player after scoring three goals in two College Cup matches. He went on to sign a Generation Adidas deal and was the fifth overall selection of Orlando City Sci in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.
