CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis player Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) swept the Atlantic Coast Conference weekly women’s tennis honors by being named Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday (February 2) by the conference.

Navarro went undefeated last week at the top of the lineup, picking up two wins over ranked singles opponents as well as a win over a ranked doubles pair. Against No. 34 Mia Horvit of South Carolina, Navarro dropped her first set 1-6, but raced to 6-0, 6-1 victories in the second and third sets to win her match and secure the team victory over the No. 18 Gamecocks. Her doubles win with senior Rosie Johanson (Vancouver, Canada) over the No. 29 pairing of Megan Davies/Mia Horvit clinched the doubles point for Virginia in the South Carolina match. She also defeated No. 116 Paola Delgado of VCU in straight sets as Virginia shutout the Rams.

This is Navarro’s second-straight conference weekly honor after being named the Co-Freshman of the Week last week.
