CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.  – Virginia men’s lacrosse player Matt Moore was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference for games played through February 21. It is the first career weekly ACC accolade of Moore’s career.

Moore (Sr., Garnet Valley, Pa.) led UVA with five goals in the Cavaliers’ 15-12 win at No. 11 Loyola. Moore scored three times in a key third quarter that spelled the difference in the game. Twice in the third quarter his goals broke a tie, including for the last time in the game to give UVA a 10-9 lead with 2:58 remaining in the period.

Moore was also named to the USILA DI Team of the Week for his exploits against the Greyhounds. It is the second week in a row Moore has been named to the USILA DI Team of the Week.

No. 3 UVA (3-0) returns to action on Saturday night when the Cavaliers open up ACC play at No. 10 Syracuse (0-1). Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
