CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis player Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday (February 23) by the conference.

Navarro improved to 5-0 in singles to start her collegiate career by topping No. 3 Alexa Graham in the ACC opener against North Carolina. Navarro, who was ranked No. 80 in singles to start the season, bounced back from being edged 7-5 in the first set to take the second 6-3 and force a super tiebreaker which she won 10-7.

This is her third ACC Freshman of the Week honor after also earning it Jan. 26 and Feb. 2. when she additionally was named the ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 2. Her teammate Hibah Shaikh (Teaneck, N.J.) earned the accolade last week (Feb. 16).
