CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis player Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) is this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday (March 23) by the conference.

Over the weekend, Navarro had two wins on the top singles court, helping the Cavaliers push their win streak out to seven-straight matches. On Saturday, she topped Clemson’s Eleni Louka 6-2, 6-1 before defeating No. 13 Kenya Jones of Georgia Tech 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in the Cavaliers’ 5-2 victory over the No. 8 Yellow Jackets.

Navarro has started her collegiate career with a perfect 12-0 record at No. 1 singles and has only lost two sets in ACC play.

This is her fifth ACC Freshman of the Week honor after also earning it Jan. 26, Feb. 2,  Feb. 23 and Mar. 9. She was also named the ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 2. Her teammate Hibah Shaikh (Teaneck, N.J.) was the named Freshman of the Week on Feb. 16.

Navarro shared the honor this week with Miami’s Isabella Pfennig of Miami.
