CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior forward Rebecca Jarrett (Washington Township, N.J.) and freshman midfielder Lia Godfrey (Fleming Island, Fla.) were named to the NCAA Women’s College Cup All-Tournament Team it was announced on Monday (May 17).
The team was selected by a vote of media personnel covering the event and announced at the conclusion of the women’s NCAA Championship on Monday night.
Godfrey and Jarrett helped the Cavaliers advance to the College Cup for the third time under head coach Steve Swanson and the 2021 appearance was the fourth in a semifinal for Virginia all-time. The duo helped the Cavaliers play top-ranked and top-seeded Florida State to a draw as the game went into a penalty kick shootout that was claimed by the Seminoles.
Jarrett almost put the Cavaliers in the lead in the semifinal with a first-half shot that hit the cross bar and dropped in front of the goal line before being cleared by Florida State. Godfrey tallied a pair of assists in Virginia’s run to the College Cup with assists in the Cavaliers’ win over Rice in the Sweet 16 and the assist on the game-winning goal against No. 4 TCU in the quarterfinal.
