CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior defender Claire Constant has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 7).

Constant played the full 90 minutes in each game last week, helping the Cavaliers post a pair of shutout victories over No. 9 Santa Clara and at JMU. She broke up several scoring opportunities for the defending NCAA Champions in the 1-0 victory over the Broncos on Thursday and helped anchor a back line that allowed JMU only two shots (none on goal) in the 2-0 victory at JMU on Sunday.

Constant and the third-ranked Cavaliers will return to action at home this weekend with a pair of matches beginning with a showdown against No. 14 Penn State at 8 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 9).
