CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia women’s tennis team opens the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 17-19) at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.

On day two of the tournament, the Cavalier players all won their respective singles and doubles matches.

Freshmen Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky each added another singles win to open their collegiate careers, including a 6-1, 6-1 victory by Chervinsky against Alexandra Viktorovich of ODU. NCAA Singles champion Emma Navarro played her first collegiate match since winning her title. She partnered with Collard in doubles for a win and also won her singles match in a third-set super tiebreaker against Old Dominion’s Yuliia Starodubtseva, last year’s Conference USA Player of the Year. Sara Ziodato made her UVA debut by picking up a win against Alesya Yakubovich.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow with the Cavaliers taking the courts of the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Sports Club at 2 p.m.
