CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday (Nov. 12) at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Anchorage, Ky. The women’s 6k race will begin at 11 a.m. and the men’s 10k competition will start at noon a.m. Live results are available at this link.

Racing for the Cavalier men are Rohann Asfaw, Jackson Braddock, Jacob Hunter, Derek Johnson, Peter Morris, Nate Mountain, Colin Peattie, Wes Porter and Johnny Rogers. Virginia enters the race as the No. 10 team in the Southeast Region rankings of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.

The Virginia women’s lineup will feature Margot Appleton, Sophie Atkinson, Mia Barnett, Ellie Desmond, Taylor Jones, Gabby Karas, Helena Lindsay, Michaela Meyer. UVA is the No. 9 ranked team in the Southeast Region rankings in the USTFCCCA poll.

The regional championship was not held last year due to Covid-19.

The top-two teams from nine regions will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla. In addition to the 18 automatic qualifiers, the NCAA will announce 13 at-large selections on Saturday. The top four runners from each region, not on an advancing team, will qualify as an individual for the championship meet.
