CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the 2021 Tennessee Invitational Thursday, November 18 through Saturday, November 20.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Thursday and Friday will have swimming prelims at 10 a.m., diving prelims at 1 p.m. and finals at 5 p.m. Saturday will begin with swimming prelims at 10 a.m., with the 1650 free at noon. Platform diving will begin at 1:30 p.m. and swimming finals start at 4:30 p.m.

TEAMS IN THE RANKINGS

  • Virginia’s women (3-0) enter the weekend as the No. 1 ranked team in the CSCAA Top 25. UVA has wins over No. 5 Texas and No. 6 Cal so far this season.
  • The Cavalier men (1-2) are No. 7 in the most recent CSCAA Top 25.
  • Host Tennessee is ranked No. 7 on the women’s side and No. 13 on the men’s side.
  • Alabama’s women are ranked No. 16 and the men are No. 24.
  • UNLV’s men moved into the Top 25 at No. 23.
  • South Carolina and Arkansas’ women’s teams are receiving votes.
  • Also competing this weekend are Carson-Newman and Emory (diving).

ABOUT THE HOOS

  • UVA most recently split its dual meet with Texas, as the women remained undefeated, while the men fell to the top-ranked team in the nation.
  • The women hold the top time in 12 events and the top three times this season in the 200-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke.
  • Freshmen Gretchen Walsh and Emma Weyant have each earned ACC Swimmer of the Week honors during the season.
  • Kate Douglass has the top NCAA time this season in the 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly.
  • Gretchen Walsh has the top time in the NCAA in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
  • Alex Walsh has the top time in the 200-yard backstroke and Emma Weyant holds the season-best time in the 400-yard IM.
  • The men have the top times in the 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, 400-yard IM and 100-yard freestyle.
