CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four members of the Virginia women’s soccer team earned All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches it was announced by the organization with the release of its annual team. Lia Godfrey, Diana Ordoñez, Alexa Spaanstra and Talia Staude were all recognized with selection.

Godfrey and Ordoñez both earned All-Region first team honors, while Spaanstra was a second-team selection and Staude was a third-team selection.

The teams are selected through voting by member coaches in their respective divisions. All-America teams will be announced on Thursday evening (Dec. 2).

Godfrey earned All-Region first-team honors for the second straight season after posting 12 assists to lead the Cavaliers on the season. She was also a first-team All-ACC selection as she finished second in the league in total assists and is fifth among active NCAA Division I players in career assists per game. Four of her assists came on game-winning goals this season. She also hit three goals this season, including the game winner against defending NCAA Champion and then No. 9 Santa Clara.

Ordoñez earned All-Region first-team honors for the second straight season after leading the ACC with 18 goals and 39 points and earning ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Eight of her goals were game winners, leading the nation and is first all-time in a season at UVA. She is also second nationally in goals and eighth in total points. Of her eight game-winning goals, she hit the winner in matches against No. 2 Duke, No. 12 West Virginia, No. 24 Clemson and Milwaukee in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She is fifth among active NCAA Division I players in career points per game (1.65) and goals per game (0.73).

Spaanstra earns All-Region honors for the third time in her career, having twice been a first-team selection previously in the 2018 and 2020 seasons. She tallied 23 points on the season with seven goals and nine assists to move to seventh all-time in assists at UVA (29). She is also eighth all-time at UVA in game-winning assists (9). She hit a pair of game-winning goals this season on her way to All-ACC second-team honors to become a four-time All-ACC selection.

Staude earns All-Region honors for the first time after helping anchor a back line that posted 13 shutouts on the season. She started all 23 matches played at center back and played the full time in 17 matches, logging 1,987 minutes on the season. She hit one goal on the season with the game winner in the 90th minute at NC State. It was her second career goal.
