No. 6 Virginia Falls to No. 7 Drexel 7-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 6 Virginia women’s squash team (6-3) fell to No. 7 Drexel (8-3) on Saturday (Jan. 22) at the Kline & Specter Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Cavaliers fell behind 4-0 quickly but battled back to cut their deficit to two. Drexel’s Margot Prow clinched the victory for the Dragons with a 3-1 win over Emma Jinks.

Sophomores Olivia Walsh and Griffin Dewey picked up wins for the Cavaliers for their two points. Walsh defeated Noa Romero Balazquez 6-11, 11-4, 11-5, 14-12 at the third spot on the ladder. Dwewy earned a victory at the ninth spot over Lara Varma 8-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-6. Maureen Foley was defeated in a tightly contested match with Drexel’s Brooke Herring. Foley jumped out to a two-game lead but fell by a score of 8-11 in the final three.
