CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia women’s tennis team opens the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 16-18) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

The second day of the tournament saw two collegiate debuts. Annabelle Xu picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory against NC State’s Sophie Abrams. Meggie Navarro also made her collegiate debut, battling through an epic third set super tiebreaker against Megan Heuser, before being edged 15-13.

Natasha Subhash and Sara Ziodato piked up their seconds wins of the tournament. Hibah Shaikh also topped NC State’s Amelia Rajecki 6-2, 6-3 to give the Cavaliers four singles wins on the day.

Players from Virginia, Old Dominion, West Virginia, NC State, Illinois, Auburn, LSU and Princeton will be competing as individuals in singles and doubles matches.

There will be three waves of matches each day. On Friday and Saturday, matches will begin at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Sunday, the matches will start at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Virginia players will be in action at noon on Sunday.

Live scoring will not be available for the matches, but court video streams will be live. Fans are welcome to attend in person. Results will be posted on VirginiaSports.com at the conclusion of play each day.
