Boston, Mass. – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country programs are set to hit the road to compete in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College on Friday (Sept. 23). The meet features a women’s 5k set to begin at 12 p.m. followed by a men’s 8k that will start at 12:30 p.m.

Competition:
Men’s competition: Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, Dartmouth, No. 15 Harvard, Maine, Monmouth, Northeastern, Rhode Island, No. 20 Syracuse, Vermont, Virginia, Yale, Youngstown State

Women’s Competition: Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, Dartmouth, No. 21 Gonzaga, No. 20 Harvard, La Salle, Maine, Monmouth, Northeastern, Quinnipiac, Santa Clara, St. John’s, Syracuse, Vermont, Virginia, Yale, Youngstown State

Competing for the Hoos
A total of 10 men and 10 women will make the trip to Boston to compete in the race as Justin Wachtel will look to build on a break-out performance at home last week while Derek Johnson and Gary Martin each have their sights set on a season debut.

The women’s squad will once again feature Margot Appleton who led the Cavaliers in both of the Cavaliers’ previous meets this season. Mia Barnett will look to make her first appearance of the season slotting into a threatening pack of runners.

Virginia will return home to host the Panorama Farms XC 23 Invitational on Saturday, October 15. The meet will feature a competitive field and will serve as a preview for the 2022 ACC Championships which will be held on the very same course on Friday, October 28.
