CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia wrestling team heads south for the weekend with members set to compete in the Mountaineer Invitational and Mountaineer Open hosted by Appalachian State. Wrestling is set to begin at 9 a.m.

In addition to the Cavaliers, the field for both the invitational tournament consists of wrestlers from Air Force, App State, Edinboro, Gardner-Webb, Kent State, Ohio and Stanford.

CAVALIERS IN THE INTERMAT RANKINGS
Virginia has five wrestlers in the week two edition of the individual rankings by InterMat. Justin McCoy leads the way at No. 9 in the 165-pound weight class, while Jake Keating is No. 12 at 157 pounds. Jarod Verkleeren comes in at No 30 at 149 pounds, while Neil Antrassian and Michael Battista are No. 32 at 184 pounds and 197 pounds, respectively.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia is coming off an opening weekend that saw five wrestlers grab titles in the Freshman/Sophomore bracket at the Southeast Open with Kyle Montaperto (125), Garrett Grice (133), Michael Gioffre (149), Nick Sanko (157) and Nick Hamilton (165) winning their weight classes. In all, 13 more Virginia wrestlers placed at the tournament.

ON DECK FOR THE CAVALIERS
Virginia will return home next week to host No. 15 Northwestern in a 7:30 p.m. dual at Mem Gym on Sunday (Nov. 20). It will be the first home competition of the season for the Hoos.
