CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Two members of the Virginia women’s soccer team, defender Talia Staude and goalkeeper Cayla White, have been named to the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team Roster for the upcoming Thorns Preseason Tournament in Portland, Ore., it was announced on Thursday (March 2).

Virginia assistant coach Sam Raper will also serve as a member of the coaching staff for the U.S. U23 Women’s National Team at the event.

The U.S. team will play three friendlies against teams from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as the league continues its preseason training.  Participating in the tournament from the NWSL are hosting Portland Thorns FC, OL Reign and Racing Louisville.

The USA opens against OL Reign on Sunday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. PT followed by Portland Thorns FC taking on Racing Louisville at 5 p.m. PT. The tournament continues Wednesday, March 15 with the OL Reign facing Racing Louisville at 5 p.m. PT and the USA playing the Thorns at 7:30 p.m. PT. The friendly competition will finish on Saturday, March 18 as the USA faces Racing Louisville at 5 p.m. PT and the Thorns take on the OL Reign at 7:30 p.m. PT. None of the matches will be streamed.

Staude was on the U.S. roster a year ago that competed in the Thorns Preseason Tournament.
