Four Cavaliers Competing in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wisc.–  Virginia women’s tennis players Natasha Subhash, Zara Larke, Blanca Pico Navarro and Meggie Navarro will be competing as individuals in singles and doubles at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, being held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-24, at the Western Racquet Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Subhash was the No. 2 seed in the singles draw. She and Larke were the 3-seed in doubles.

There will be live scoring but no streaming video.

FRIDAY

• Navarro and Pico Navarro opened doubles play with a 6-2 loss against Selma Cadar and Mary Brumfield of Maryland. Subhash and Larke fell 6-1 against Reilly Tran and Theodora Rabman of North Carolina.
• Subhash downed Santa Strombacha of Grand Canyon 6-1, 6-1 in her opener, but fell 6-1, 6-2 against Rosie Garccia Gross of Georgia Tech in the Round of 16.
• Larke dropped a three-setter against Wisconsin’s Cataldi Taylor. 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 and then fell 6-4, 6-0 against Brumfield in a consolation match.
• Navarro fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 against Alexandra Benedetto of Brown but won a consolation match against Emilija Kojcic of Marquette 6-2, 6-3.
• Pico Navarro fell 6-1, 6-2 against North Carolina’s Theadora Rabman but won a consolation match against Navy’s Stella Ribaudo 6-1, 6-0.

SATURDAY

• Navarro and Pico Navarro played backdraw matches on Saturday. Pico Navarro won 6-3, 6-1 against SMU’s Drew Morris while Navarro fell 6-2, 6-4 against Emma Staker of Oklahoma
• The two swapped opponents for a second match on Saturday with Pico Navarro falling 6-0, 6-0 against Staker and Navarro bowing 6-1, 6-3 against Morris.
• Subhash fell 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 in a backdraw match against Romana Cisovska of Oklahoma.
