CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia wrestling team (3-0) heads out on the road for a pair of neutral-site duals this weekend as the Cavaliers face Gardner Webb (2-2) and George Mason (7-4) at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Va.

The dual with Gardner Webb is set for a 1:30 p.m. start, while the dual with George Mason is set to begin at 3 p.m.

VIRGINIA IN THE RANKINGS
The Cavaliers enter the weekend with three nationally-ranked wrestlers in the individual rankings from InterMat. Justin McCoy (174) leads the way at No. 13 in his weight class, while Marlon Yarbrough (133) comes in ranked No. 28 at his weight. Dylan Cedeno (157) is ranked No. 30 at his weight class.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE HOOS

  • Virginia is coming off the Midlands Championships where two wrestlers placed for the Cavaliers.
  • Justin McCoy took sixth at 174 pounds after advancing to the semifinals, while Marlon Yarbrough took eighth at 133 pounds after a quarterfinal appearance and then success in the wrestlebacks.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia will continue to wrestle on the road next weekend, traveling to Hampton, Va., to compete in the Virginia Duals. The Cavaliers will wrestle two duals each day of the two-day event, facing Wisconsin and Kent State on Friday (Jan. 12) then No. 15 South Dakota State and No. 19 Oklahoma on Saturday (Jan. 13).
