CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 1/18 Virginia women’s and men’s swimming & diving teams will travel to Christiansburg, Va. for a dual meet with the Virginia Tech women’s and No. 21 men’s swimming & diving teams on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Events are set to begin at noon.

  • Virginia’s women are ranked No. 1 and the men No. 18 in the most recent CSCAA poll.
  • 12 Cavaliers traveled to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the 2024 TYR Pro Swim Series this week (Jan. 11-13).
  • UVA is coming off a split at the Tennessee Invite (Nov. 15-17), where the women finished first and the men finished second.
  • Walsh set an unofficial American, NCAA & US Open record in the 100-yard butterfly during the women’s 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 48.30.
  • Gretchen Walsh was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 21.
  • Gretchen Walsh owns the fastest time in the NCAA this season in five events (50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 back, 100 fly).
  • Senior Noah Nichols won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Tennessee Invite with a time of 51.67.
  • Sophomore Sebastian Sergile won the 200-yard IM (1:43.42) and Noah Nichols finished second (1:43.73).
  • Cavan Gormsen, Ella Bathurst, Alex Walsh, Ella Nelson, Maggie Schalow and Abby Harter also added wins for the women.

Virginia will host a senior day tri-meet with NC State and North Carolina on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Aquatic & Fitness Center.
