CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of the sport of swimming in the United States, today announced that Virginia associate head coach Jake Shrum will serve as an assistant coach at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships (25m), being held  Dec. 10-15 at the Duna Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

This is Shrum’s first time being part of an official USA Swimming staff at a senior-level meet.

Shrum was promoted to associate head coach at UVA following the 2023-24 season. Over the past two seasons, Shrum helped coach the UVA women’s program to a pair of NCAA titles – the third and fourth consecutive for Virginia – and a pair of ACC women’s championships. A UVA swimming alum (2005-08), he was a four-time varsity letter winner and was a member of three ACC Championship teams.

Chris Plumb, an assistant coach at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the 2023 World Championships, will serve as head coach.

Shrum is one of four assistant coaches along with Josh Huger, John Long and Katie Robinson.

Cavaliers Jack Aikins, Kate Douglass, Katie Grimes, Paige Madden, Alex Walsh, Gretchen Walsh, and Emma Weber will compete at the meet.
