Code of Conduct
University of Virginia athletics events should be an enjoyable experience for all guests. To help us reach this goal for fans, staff, and student-athletes, we ask for your assistance in displaying a high degree of sportsmanship at all times.

Scott Stadium (A-Z)

Below you will find a comprehensive description of the University of Virginia policies at Scott Stadium. It is the athletics department’s wish that all patrons have a safe and enjoyable experience, and we believe that these policies will aid in accomplishing that endeavor.

Accessibility Accommodations
The University of Virginia provides accommodations for guests with disabilities at all athletics facilities. Closed captioning of the public address system is provided at Scott Stadium on the LED “ribbon boards” between the upper and lower levels in the northeast and southeast corners of the stadium.

Parking for guests with accessibility needs is available on a first-come, first-served basis on North Grounds at the corner of Arlington Blvd and Massie Road.  A DMV-issued placard is required to park in this area.  A free shuttle operates from North Grounds to Scott Stadium beginning two (2) hours prior to kickoff. Admission
All guests age two and older entering Scott Stadium must have a valid ticket. Once guests enter the stadium, they may not exit and re-enter without a separate game ticket.

All guests, including but not limited to ticketed patrons, UVA students, game day staff, student-athletes, coaches and support staff, are subject to inspection and search for prohibited items. Event staff will examine the contents of clear bags, jackets, pockets or any other personal item before admitting guests to the facility. In order to expedite entrance into the facility, it is recommended that all guests refrain from bringing bags to events and arrive early at the facility gates.

Alcohol
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to enter the facility. Persons identified with alcohol may be asked to leave the premises. Intoxicated guests will be subject to removal from the facility.

Animals
Animals are not permitted in or around athletics facility grounds, with the exception of trained service animals on a leash/harness.

Announcements and Paging
Announcements and paging for guests will be considered only in the case of an emergency. If a family member needs to reach a guest attending a game, the number to call for assistance is (434) 924-3820.

ATMs
Bank of America ATMs are located in the main concourse at sections 106 & 126.

Banners, Signs, and Flags

Bus/RV Parking
Bus parking permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $50 per game. To purchase, contact Athletics Facilities & Operations at (434) 982-5022. RV parking is first-come, first-served in the surface lots(?) near John Paul Jones Arena on game day. The RV lot opens at 8 a.m. on game day. Overnight parking is prohibited.

Cameras
Cameras with lenses less than six inches are allowed; however, flash photography and stands/tripods are prohibited.

Chairbacks / Cavalier Stadium Seats
Football season ticketholders may request for chairbacks to be installed at their seats for the entire season. Chairbacks are available for season lease at $37 if ordered before July 1 or $47 after July 1. Call 877-702-4292 or visit CavalierSeats.com for more information. Single-game rentals will be sold at all gates for $10 on football event days.

Clear Bag Policy
The policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into the venue. One bag per person is allowed, but the bag must meet the following parameters:

  • Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and may not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Clear one-gallon plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar) are also permitted.
  • Small clutch bags/wallets, no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ (with or without a handle or strap) can be taken into the facility and will be subject to search.
  • An exception will be made for items necessary for medical reasons after proper inspections at a gate designated for this purpose.

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: diaper bags, purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Seat cushions and seat backs are permitted as long as they are not in a carrying bag.

Items needed for small children must be in a clear bag that meet the stated dimensions.

Concessions & Merchandise
Concession stands are located throughout the stadium concourses. Merchandise stands are located at the East and West Gates as well in the South end zone on the lower and upper concourses. Credit cards are accepted at most concession stands and all merchandise stands.

Elevators
Elevators are accessible at the south end of Scott Stadium to accommodate guests with disabilities. Elevators at the northwest and northeast sides of the stadium are available for guests with access to suite level.

Field Access
In accordance with Atlantic Coast Conference and University of Virginia policies, guests are prohibited from coming onto the field at any time. Only participants, coaches, officials, and authorized personnel shall be allowed in the competition area before, during, and at the conclusion of the competition. This policy is for the safety of our guests, the officials, student-athletes, and coaches.

First Aid Rooms
First aid rooms are found throughout Scott Stadium in the following locations:

  • Main concourse outside sections 102, 116, 130
  • Upper concourse outside section 521

The UVA Health System staffs all first aid rooms. Medical services personnel are also stationed throughout the facility as a resource to guests.

Gates
All gates open 90 minutes before each home football game.

Grills
The University of Virginia strives to protect life and property by reducing the risks posed to University buildings, property and occupants from the use and operation of an open burn and open flame. By this policy, charcoal grills are prohibited in parking lots. Propane grills are only allowed in open-air parking lots if the propane tank is less than five pounds. Open flames other than grills are prohibited.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found station is located at the South Concourse behind Section 116.

Contact the nearest event staff member for direction to the nearest lost and found station. Lost and found items will be held on site until the facility closes for each game. Following each game, items will be taken to the Facilities & Operations Office located at 2033 Ivy Road. Lost Persons
Contact the nearest law enforcement officer or event staff member to report a missing person.

Parking
Reserved parking adjacent to the Scott Stadium is available exclusively to qualified Virginia Athletics Foundation donors. Available general public parking includes UVA parking lots at North Grounds, areas at the Fontaine Research Park, and garages located at Emmet Street & Ivy Road, Central Grounds, the UVA Health System area and in Downtown Charlottesville.

Reserved Parking (Virginia Athletics Foundation Donors)
All lots adjacent to Scott Stadium are reserved for qualified VAF donors. A VAF-issued parking permit is required for entrance. The permit must be displayed on the rearview mirror or dashboard at all times. Vehicles not displaying the proper parking permit are subject to ticketing and towing.

Prohibited items at Scott Stadium include, but are not limited to:

  • Artificial noisemakers
  • Balls, Frisbees, and similar items
  • Containers (including plastic or glass bottles, cans, coolers, or flasks)
  • Outside Food and Beverages
  • Strollers (except umbrella strollers)
  • Umbrellas
  • Weapons of any kind, including those carried with a permit, as defined in SEC-030: Regulations of Weapons, Fireworks and Explosives
  • Folding Chairs
  • Drones or unmanned aircraft systems
  • Animals (with the exception of trained service animals on leashes)

The University of Virginia Athletics Department reserves the right to prohibit any item deemed hazardous or disruptive to the athletics event or the enjoyment of the event by other guests.

All guests are subject to inspection and search for prohibited items. Event staff will examine the contents of bags, jackets, pockets, or any other personal item before admitting guests to the facility. In order to expedite entrance into the facility, it is recommended that guests not bring bags to events and arrive early at the facility gates.

Re-entry
Re-entry into Scott Stadium is prohibited.

Request for Assistance
All requests for assistance and reports of discourtesy should be directed to event staff. Event staff personnel are positioned at each section throughout the stadium for convenience.

Lost, misplaced, or stolen VAF permits will not be replaced. All permits are limited to one pass for one space. Tailgating should be confined to the area immediately behind your vehicle. Additional information can be found online at VirginiaSports.com/parking/parking.html.

Restrooms
Restrooms for men and women are located throughout both the upper and lower concourses. Family/Companion restrooms are located near sections, 118, 501, 518, 522, and 539.

Security Checks
All guests are subject to inspection and search for prohibited items.  Event staff reserves the right to examine the contents of bags, jackets, pockets, or any other personal item before admitting guests to the facility. In order to expedite entrance into the facility, it is recommended that guests not bring bags to events and arrive early at the facility gates.

Screening Policy
Screening procedures will be in use at all entry gates. Walk-through metal detectors will be the primary means of screening. For guests who are unable to utilize a walk-through metal detector for medical reasons, hand-held metal detectors will be used. Any person who does not consent to screening will be denied entry into the stadium.

Signs
Banners, signs and flags are allowed in athletics venues provided they do not impede another guest’s view of the competition, cover any venue signage, and/or are not attached to the facility. Banners, signs, and flags on poles or sticks are prohibited. Athletics Event Management reserves the right to remove any banner, sign, or flag that is in violation of the policy.

Smoking
Smoking is permitted in designated smoking areas only. The designated smoking areas outside Scott Stadium are at the southwest and east gates.

Solicitation & Distribution
Solicitation and distribution of non-approved items is prohibited in or around University property and athletics facilities. This includes newspapers, items for sale, campaign and political items, etc.

Throwing Objects
For the safety of student athletes, coaches, guests, and Event Staff, throwing objects in any athletics facility is prohibited. Violators are subject to removal from the facility.

John Paul Jones Arena

Below you will find a comprehensive description of the University of Virginia policies at John Paul Jones Arena. It is the athletics department’s wish that all patrons have a safe and enjoyable experience, and we believe that these policies will aid in accomplishing that endeavor.

Accessibility Accommodations
The University of Virginia provides accommodations for guests with disabilities at all athletics facilities. Closed captioning of the public address system is provided at JPJ on the LED “ribbon boards.”

Parking for guests with accessibility needs can be accessed through the JPJ West Lot from Massie Road on a first-come, first-served basis.  Entrance requires a DMV-issued handicapped placard.  A free accessible shuttle bus is also available operating from the general public parking lot at The Park to John Paul Jones Arena beginning one and a half (1.5) hours prior to tipoff.

  • Small clutch bags/wallets, no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ (with or without a handle or strap) can be taken into the facility and will be subject to search.

Lost and Found station is located at the guest services desk behind Section 308.

Parking
Reserved season parking passes are required for all levels of the JPJ Garage, the JPJ West Lot, JPJ East Lot, and JPJ South Lot.  General public parking is available at The Park on a first-come, first-served basis or in the UVA Emmet/Ivy Garage ($5 per game).  Lots open 1.5 hour prior to tipoff.

Clear Bag Policy
The policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into the venue. One bag per person is allowed, but the bag must meet the following parameters:

  • Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and may not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Clear one-gallon plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar) are also permitted.
  • Small clutch bags/wallets, no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ (with or without a handle or strap) can be taken into the facility and will be subject to search.
  • An exception will be made for items necessary for medical reasons after proper inspections at a gate designated for this purpose.

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: diaper bags, purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Seat cushions and seat backs are permitted as long as they are not in a carrying bag.

Folding chairs are permitted at Klöckner Stadium as long as they are not in a carrying bag.

Items needed for small children must be in a clear bag that meet the stated dimensions.
