Virginia is attempting to win its fourth ACC title and first since 1977.The Cavaliers have finished second the last two years to UNC and secondthree times in the last four years.

Focusing on First…Matt Roth is looking for his first ACC championshipafter placing second, third, and fourth the past three years. He is eighthin the nation at 125 with a 4-1 record in the ACC’s and a 26-5 recordoverall. He is 13-1 in dual matches and his 42nd career dual match winagainst John Weilble of Clarion tied him for the Virginia all-time recordwith Mike Krafchick (1991-1992, 1994-1995). His nine pins this seasonhelped him to become the all-time career pin leader with 26. Roth finishedsecond at the Congressional Cup and third at the Keystone Classic.

Freshman Bob Seidel needs one more pin to tie the freshman record for mostpins in a season. He has a 0-2 record in the ACC’s and an overall recordof 11-8. He is 3-2 in dual matches. He placed first in the VirginiaIntercollegiates at 125 and second at the Keydet Invitational.

P.J. Bory has a 12-5 record overall, going 1-2 in the ACC’s and 6-4 in dualmatches. He won the Virginia Intercollegiates at 141 and placed third atthe Congressional Cup. He defeated then-#15 Tommy Davis of NC State in thedual match to record his only ACC victory of the season.

John Pozniak is 3-1 in the ACC’s and has an overall record of 17-12. He is9-5 in dual matches. He finished second at 149 in the VirginiaIntercollegiates.

Greg Francesca has a 1-3 in the ACC’s and an overall record of 8-19. He is3-11 in dual matches at 157. He finished fourth at Virginia States.

Aiming for the three-peat… Jim Harshaw will try to win his thirdconsecutive ACC championship. If successful, he will become only thefourth wrestler in Virginia history to win three consecutive titles. He iscurrently ranked 12th in the nation at 165 with a perfect 4-0 record in theACC’s. He has an overall record of 34-5 and a14-1 record in dual matches.He claimed three championship victories at the West Virginia Open, theVirginia Intercollegiates, and the Congressional Cup. Harshaw is only the16th wrestler in state history to claim three titles. His 10 pins tiedRoth’s 1998 record for most pins in a season. And, his 23 career pinsplace him second to Roth in career pins. He also currently ranks third incareer wins with 96.

John Qualter is 0-3 in the ACC’s and has an overall record of 6-14. He is3-8 in dual matches.

Craig Fenstermaker will try to top last year’s second place finish at theACC Championships. He is 4-0 in the ACC’s and has an overall record of22-9. He is 11-4 in dual matches. He began the season winning the CoppinState Open at 184. Fenstermaker placed fourth at the Keystone Classic. Hedefeated 19th ranked Isaac Moore (VMI) to win the Virginia statechampionships at 197. He was named the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestlerfor his performance. He also placed third at the Congressional Cup.Fenstermaker has competed in 48 career dual matches which places him fifthall-time for Virginia.

Virginia’s Heavyweight Ryan Painter is 2-2 in the ACC’s and is 15-19overall. He has a dual match record of 4-11. He placed third at theKeystone Classic and second at Virginia states.
