DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 21 Duke Blue Devils exploded for eight runs in the sixth to defeat the Virginia Cavaliers 13-10 on Saturday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field. The Cavs fall to 12-5 and 0-4 in the ACC. Duke improves to 21-3.

The Blue Devils trailed 9-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth, when J.D. Alleva led off the inningwith a single. After John Benik walked, Jordan Litrownik was hit by a pitch but the homeplate upire called it a foul ball.

After Miltrownik singled and Tommy Keiper threw a wild pitch, Waughn Schill and Jeff Becker walked. Bradley Nuckols then came in to pitch for the Cavaliers giving up a bases-clearing double to Michael Flethcher.

Ed Conrey followed with his sixth home run of the year before Gregg Maluchnik and Alleva singled. A John Benik single scored Maluchnik to top off the inning and seal the victory.The Blue Devils and Cavaliers wrap up the three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Jack Coombs Field.
