CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–Tailback Thomas Jones carried the ball 16 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Aaron Brooks completed six of 10 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown to lead the Blue Team (offense) to a 24-19 victory over the White Team (defense) Saturday in the University of Virginia’s annual spring football game at Carl Smith Center, home of David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium.

Brooks teamed with wide receiver Kevin Coffey on a 99-yard touchdown pass play with 12 seconds left in the first quarter. Coffey finished the game with three receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown.

Jones scored on touchdown runs of 10 and 62 yards in the fourth quarter.

Todd Braverman kicked a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter and Greg Owens kicked a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Tailback Tyree Foreman carried the ball 24 times for 53 yards.

The scoring format differed from a regular game. As in a regular game, the offense received six points for a touchdown and three points for a field goal. Extra points were not counted. The defense received one point for stopping a drive (either on downs or forcing a punt) and three points for forcing a turnover (fumble recovery or interception). The defense also received six points for a touchdown.

Cornerback Jason Small and end Darryl Sanders recovered fumbles for the White Team.

Linebackers Wale Elegbe and Wali Rainer were each in on nine tackles to lead the White Team. Rainer had one tackle for lost yardage and also had a quarterback hurry. Cornerback Dwayne Stukes was in on eight tackles. End Ljubomir Stamenich was in on four quarterback sacks, caused one fumble and broke up a pass.
