CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Six television affiliates across Virginia and the Southeastern United States have agreed to carry the “Cavalier Minute” during the University of Virginia’s 1998-99 athletic year. The “Cavalier Minute” is a one-minute feature on UVa athletics produced by Cavalier Sports Marketing. The “Cavalier Minute,” which replaces the traditional 30-minute coaches’ television show, will air within local newscasts over 40 consecutive weeks beginning August 25. The projected viewership of this new program on a weekly basis is 622,000.

“I feel this is a ground-breaking concept in the area of television programming as it relates to coaches shows at the collegiate level,” said Virginia Athletic Director Terry Holland. “Our market research has indicated that the coaches show format has been overused and that this new concept, the Cavalier Minute, has the potential to reach as many as ten times the number of Virginia fans throughout the state. Judging from the calls we have had from other schools, many are already looking for an updated way to promote their programs.”

Cavalier Sports Marketing is a division of Premier Sports Marketing, the University of Virginia’s athletic multi-media consultants. For more information on the “Cavalier Minute,” please call Cavalier Sports Marketing at 804/982-4680.
