CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The IWLCA Poll Committee has released theseventh week’s rankings for the NCAA Division I lacrosse field for 1999.Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.

The Maryland Terrapins remained on top of the IWLCA poll for theeighth consecutive week. Virginia held onto the No. 2 spot in the poll as well. Yale jumps into the top-12 following their defeatof then-#3 Duke. Brown also moves back into the top-20 with a win overthen-#20 Cornell.

Games this week involving top-20 action include the ACC Tournamentheld at Chapel Hill on Satuday and Sunday. First, however, on Wednesdayeight top-20 teams are in action as #1 Maryland faces #15 William & Mary,#2 Virginia travels to #14 George Mason, and #20 Brown takes on new-#11Yale. # 7 Penn State and #6 North Carolina will meet at Goucher College onWednesday as well. Saturday’s conference action will see #5 Duke faceVirginia in one semifinal and Maryland and North Carolina square off in theother. Other conference action has #4 Princeton travelling to #10Dartmouth. Out-of-conference action has #13 Delaware facing #8 Loyola, #9Georgetown hosting #3 James Madison, and #16 Old Dominion welcoming #7 PennState to Norfolk. The ACC Championship game will take place on Sunday.

Golden Rams Remain on Top of Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The IWLCA Poll Committee has released theseventh week’s rankings for the NCAA Division II lacrosse field for 1999.Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.

The West Chester Golden Rams, the seven-time defending PSAC Champions,remain at the top of the eighth week’s poll for 1999. They were a unanimouschoice again. St. Michael’s makes their first appearance in the top-10 thisseason as they maintain and undefeated season so far.

Seventh Weekly Division III Women’s Lacrosse Poll Released

College of New Jersey Still No. 1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The IWLCA Poll Committee has released theseventh weekly ranking for the NCAA Division III lacrosse field for 1999.Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.

The College of New Jersey Lions remained atop the polls for theeighth week, but they lost a first place vote to the Panthers ofMiddlebury. Conference games caused the top ten to have a shakeup asSalisbury State moved into the top ten with defeats of conference foes MaryWashington (then #6) and St. Mary’s (then #5) and Williams defeated NESCACfoe Trinity to move back into the top four. Colby and Ursinus also findtheir way back into the top-20 this week.

In games involving top-20 teams this week, the always-tough NESCACwill see four games featuring two top-20 teams. #2 Middlebury and #6Trinity square off on neutral ground at Northfield-Mt. Hermon on Tuesday,and on Wednesday #19 Colby and #5 Bowdoin tangle on Wednesday. The state ofNew Jersey will see #1 College of New Jersey face #11 Rowan in the GardenState on Thursday. On Saturday, four of the top-10 NESCAC teams will squareoff as #2 Middlebury takes on #5 Bowdoin and #6 Trinity faces #10 Amherst.
