Jess Wilk Receives the Beth Allen Award

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The United States Women’s Lacrosse Association honored Jess Wilk (Charlottesville, Va./Maryland ’90) this weekend at the USWLA National Tournament, held at McDonogh School in Baltimore, Maryland. Wilk is the recipient of the prestigious Beth Allen Award, which is given to “a highly skilled, creative, and disciplined player who consistently makes a positive contribution to the team effort. Such a player shall show awareness and understanding of the spirit of this unique game and exemplify character traits of loyalty and sportsmanship.”

Wilk, who is the assistant field hockey coach at the University of Virginia, was a captain of the 1997 United States National team that won its third consecutive World Championship with a 3-2 victory over Australia. She was also on the team that won the title in 1993 in Scotland. The Virginia hockey team advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in 1997 for the first time in school history.
