CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia put two players on theCollegiate Baseball preseason all-ACC team it was announced this week.Junior shortstop/reliever Tim LaVigne and sophomore righthander BrandonCreswell were named ACC Players to Watch by the publication.

LaVigne, a native of Virginia Beach, hit .262 with five home runsand 20 RBI last spring. He also finished second on the team with 44 runsscored and was a perfect 7-for-7 on the base paths. On the mound, LaVignewas 2-4 with a 5.76 ERA, but led the team with six saves. He also struckout 41 batters in 29 and two-thirds innings with only 13 walks.

Creswell, a native of Newport News, was 2-0 with a 3.72 ERA lastseason as a freshman with a couple of saves. He appeared in 22 games,starting five, and worked 58 innings. In that time, he struck out 49batters and walked just 18.

The Cavaliers open the 1999 season at 3 p.m. Jan. 29 againstJacksonville University at the ACC/Disney Baseball Blast in Kissimmee, Fla.
