CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– Mac McDonald, the radio play-by-play voice of the University of Virginia football and men’s basketball teams, has been named Director of Broadcasting for Cavalier Sports Marketing and UVa effective April 1.

McDonald’s appointment was announced by Cavalier Sports Marketing General Manager Richard Klein.

“With our new marketing arrangement between Cavalier Sports Marketing and the University of Virginia, we wanted to position Mac as the one person our radio affiliates could turn to in the area of sales and marketing support,” Klein said. “Mac will also oversee the Virginia radio network from a programming and affiliate clearance standpoint.”

McDonald will continue as the morning sports announcer Monday through Friday on radio station WINA-AM in Charlottesville.

McDonald’s broadcast career in radio and television spans 25 years.
